Mike is President of Michael C. Mitchell, Consulting, LLC, the firm that he formed in 2011 following his retirement from Lockheed Martin Corporation at the conclusion of a 20-year career with the company.
While with Lockheed Martin, Mike was Vice President for Logistics and Sustainment in the Corporation’s Washington Operations office. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Mike spent nearly a decade with Sen. William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) on the staff of the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs. Mike began his career in Washington on a four-year assignment with the U.S. Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations.
In working to support clients, Mike draws on experience attained in his more than 35 years working for public and private sector organizations. Key strengths include an understanding of the public policy process at the federal, state and local governmental levels, with a particular focus on federal policy relating to national defense and national security matters. Within the defense and national security realm, Mike developed particular expertise in defense logistics and sustainment, specifically in policies and programs to support and maintain systems currently in the defense inventory, defense supply chain management, and approaches to encourage public-private partnerships.
Mike received his Master’s in Public Administration degree from the American University in Washington, DC, in 1977 with a focus on domestic intergovernmental relations. Mike received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College, Hartford, CT, in 1973 with a focus on pre-Civil War 19th Century American History.
